FOUNDRY AND DIE-CASTING

The foundry department of 3M S.r.l. is dedicated to the controlled casting of aluminum alloys, aiming to ensure metallurgical stability, production continuity, and process repeatability.
Internal management allows direct control of the molten metal and reduction of process variability.

FOUNDRY AND FURNACES

Control of aluminum alloy casting
Melting furnaces

The casting is carried out through melting furnaces with capacities up to 3,000 kg, designed for series production and continuous cycles.
The plants ensure alloy homogeneity, thermal stability of the melting bath, and operational reliability over time, allowing the material properties to remain constant according to the required application specifications.

Holding furnaces

The molten metal is managed through holding furnaces, which ensure constant control of temperature and metallurgical conditions throughout the entire production cycle, preserving alloy uniformity and process stability.

Casting process

The 3M casting process is engineered and structured to ensure maximum control at every stage:

management and verification of chemical composition

controlled metal casting

maintenance of metallurgical conditions

continuous monitoring of process parameters

Quality system

The foundry department operates in integration with the company quality system, ensuring traceability of the process and compliance of the molten material with the specifications required by high-performance automotive and industrial sectors.

DIE-CASTING

Automatic die-casting lines
The die-casting process is managed through the control of the main injection parameters, allowing: controlled cavity filling compensation of solidification shrinkage reduction of porosity high surface quality of the casting The adoption of Vacuum technology also allows the production of components with reduced thicknesses and high structural requirements.
Molding process control

The automated management of the die-casting cycle allows maintaining high levels of repeatability, safety, and process stability, essential requirements for productions intended for critical components.

The department operates in integration with the company quality system, ensuring product compliance with the required technical and regulatory specifications.

Casting repeatability

Production is carried out on automatic IDRA and OMS lines, with tonnages from 420 to 2,350 tons, configured for series production and high-complexity applications.

The lines are integrated with:

holding furnaces

extraction robots

automatic mold lubrication systems

trimming presses

This configuration ensures production continuity, process stability, and reduction of operational variability.
